Yesterday I wrote about my Country ( India) and on the same day the news about Afghanistan and it’s people’s situation was heart breaking. So much pain. Such devastation. How terrible situation it is for them?? hopelessness lives holding their breaths and running on the roads. My heart goes out to all Afghanis. Especially the Letter from Sahraa Karimi is really heartmelting and very impressive the way she urges the world to save her Country. Prayers for the world peace 🙏🙏🙏

On Sunday, on the occasion of India’s 75th Independence day, the world also witnessed the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan, thereby driving the country towards major uncertainty and leaving the war-torn nation in an extremely vulnerable position. The airport of Kabul, the last city to fall witnessed crazy scenes of foreign nationals and Afghani residents alike trying to escape the clutches of the militants as the armed in insurgents captured the country in a week.

A week after the USA withdrew its troops that had been deployed in the country for over 20 years, the country is visibly shaken up, and the most at risk are its women and children, who have been suppressed with regards to freedom and education among basic fundamental rights.

And now, among scenes of chaos ensuing on the streets in cities, one doing the rounds on the internet shows a few Talibani insurgents moving around the streets with a reporter’s microphone and asking people to share how happy they are under the ‘Tali9s that one of the companions of the said ‘reporters’ seems to be carrying a gun in his hand, although he keeps it lowered

The video was originally shared on Twitter by an account called @Zabehulah_M33, and it claims to be the Official twitter account of the spokesman of Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, Zabihullah Mujahid.

The video, which has a description in Pashto, says ‘Kabul is under the control of the city, special units of the Islamic Emirate have been deployed in different parts of the city to provide security. The general public is happy with the arrival of the Mujahideen and satisfied with the security.”

The video shows three four Talibani people addressing the camera where they explain the situation prevalent in the city and the country. He then takes his microphone to one passerby and asks his name. When he replies its Habibullah, the man then goes on to ask how he is faring under the new Taliban rule. The same ‘reporter’ asks the question to yet another person and then enquires if he is ‘khushaal’ (happy) with the arrival of the Mujahideen. The man seems to reply in affirmative.

The scenes on the video are however, shockingly devoid of any woman or girls on the street. Not in the background, nor are they visible on any part of the road.

Many who have somehow been able to escape the Talibans and gone over to other countries, especially women and the young urban people have been continuously despairing at the breakdown situation in their country. Many Afghani nationals have been ruing the fact of 20 years of development washing away in an instant.

Recognising them gave them the confidence to come back to power. The Taliban have been brutalising our people throughout the entire process of the talks. Everything that I have worked so hard to build as a filmmaker in my country is at the risk of falling. If the Taliban take over they will ban all art. I and other filmmakers could be next on their hit list…this war is not a civil war, this is a proxy war, this is an imposed war and it is the result of the US deal with the Taliban,” Sahraa Karimi wrote two days ago.

  2. Yes, the images coming out of Afghanistan tell sad story. A narrative of failed policies, vested interests and sufferings of common men n women . US and their own government has failed the people of i Afghanistan.
    How can a nation fall just like that?
    The scenes of desperate people trying to board at the airport are so dejecting.
    Nationals of so many countries are trapped inside.
    Where is the United Nations?
    Well, we can only pray for the well being of the people especially the women and girls because they suffer the most in such situations.
    At times like this the feeling dawn’s how fortunate one is to be born in beautiful country India ..where we can breathe freely .

Heart wrenching to see common people struggling n dying of these polluted politics cruelty of the leaders or invaders.       2. Yes, I meant the UNO, what is that organization doing in this tragic times. They keep sending peace keepers everywhere, why not Afghanistan. Why was it all left to America who had their own axe to grind. Unfortunately, Afghanistan is surrounded by countries who instead of giving a helping hand to people will rather assist the Taliban .. .

  4. This is really heartbreaking and sad. So sorry for all Afghanistan people that they are having such hard time. Its really bad to get ruled by someone else. I wasn’t aware that you are from Afghanistan. Don’t worry I wish god will soon bless you and your country. Taliban or any other country shouldn’t do such activities coz they just cause destruction and harm peace . All news Channel are filled by this .   6. Watched the news today. And rewatched it again and again. Still Can’t believe the Taliban gained foothold over Kabul. To talk about women it is most heart wrenching, and the neighbouring countries could have provided any military assistance. The pictures are even more horrifying. The best we can do is lift the Afghani citizens as soon as possible . Thanks for penning this down Suma!

    1. Yes, it’s very saddening to watch the cruel acts and struggling souls of Afghanis n other people from different countries. None did any help or assistance at less to protect people 😕 yes rightly said but no sever protocol to do that n lift people to a different places too.   8. until we get to see the trade agreements and the trade offs being brokered we’re all in the dark… these are proxy wars for others ends… land grab again… and it’s been going on for longer than we know… the British were defeated before in 1842…

      7. in English law it is about the balance of probability of a truth… it is about (I) points of law (ii) you can be believed and (iii) the fair administration of the procedures… so really not about the substantive issues of fleeing violence and fear but limiting the State Liability for you and family…

  12. This is heartbreaking. 💔💔 I am so restless reading all these news. And before few hours a video emerged showing two men fell from the plane flying few meters away… That much is the scare they have for Talibans and they are running all over to escape. I am so lost for words, may God help them find peace. ❤️❤️

    1. You I do agree with this point, those who were suppose to save the people are the ones who left the Country to save themselves. How poor people elected such leaders n these Govts n UNO did nothing for people or peace. Every one are just left them into pieces n watching them running n flying around searching their breaths.   22. It’s pathetic and heartbreaking. America has utterly failed in its calculations. On one hand, they are not in favour of recognising them, and on the other, they are negotiating with them. The most unfortunate part is that Russia, China and Pakistan are openly supporting the Taliban.

  23. Heart breaking how it has happened two in a span of two to three decades. The mess that US created in Afghanistan and the breeding of such terrorists will destroy the country, putting the lives of women and children in jeopardy. Hope that international agencies can come together and liberate the country again. It cannot be a democratic Government.

But the world is just watching n UN is no where in ghe picture. Isn’t it their responsibility to bring such agencies together help tge people to live their rights?   28. 20 years without Taliban ruling the country has not been perfect for the country with the Afghan Government and their military still struggling to keep the Taliban in check.

    However, there has been a tremendous development in human rights, access to education and technology and improvement of lifestyle. When I was there in 2007, one of the things that was much appreciated was for women to get higher education and better jobs with many mainstream industries such as banks. They even opened the cinema when I was there. Life was still hard but many Afghans were happy nonetheless to get on with life without the Taliban and their strict enforcement of false morality.

    Now the whole thing has all gone down the drain. It is indeed tragic despite what the Taliban have promised in their press conference.
